natechesley:

Saying it out loud changes things.

I’ve been mulling this concept over for some time, and just seem to keep running into it. My paraphrase above is a condensate from various books, movies, mythologies, and especially conversations … I suppose really I’m experiencing the…

I like this idea.  A while ago I was studying about the power of sound or as you said Nate, sound waves.  I was studying it in two contexts.  The first one how it is being used in medicine.  There is a field of study that only deals with understanding the “wave frequency” of disease, which then in turn allows doctors to play the exact same wave frequency back into the disease.  It works like the illustration of the Oprah singer when her voice reaches the same frequency as the glass chandelier and the glass explodes.  They are able to find the frequency of disease and then release this same frequency back into the diseased area which in turn destroys the disease.

There is also a lot of study on in the idea of blessing and cursing.  That even more then these words being just words, words actually have power to physically change the material universe around us.  That the frequency of certain words and phrases really do have the power to give life or hurt it.  Who knows really.

I love the idea of speaking though.  That these things really do have power.  :)
